choosing Yixing teapots is a thing of love

at least it is for me

I choose the pots with great care

I examine the stamps

if they are on the rights spots, enough and sufficient

I look at lines, execution, polishing and general looks

Yixing Purple Sands Factory No.1  p 1996 I brought this one home
after the visit to the "factory"
(about 13cm from spout to handle)
Euro: 195,-

of course the choice of pots is personal

I chose these because I like them

just like with all the pots I have.............

1996175

Some I sell because they are double in my own collection,

some I sell because they are too big for my cupboard

some I sell because one has to sell to get money...

...maybe in order to buy new ones.

Be sure that all the pots I sell come with all the papers

even if I do not know their origin,

they still come with my personal printed findings.

I honestly believe  in the pots I sell, that they are GOOD

Yixing Purple Sands Factory No.1 is a 'fancy' name given by the communists to a place where roughly a hundred potters worked and made superb pots

1996195

Factory No1 is no longer.
A colleague of mine, who visited the place in 2004,
told me it is now a factory for cosmetics.

When we were there, it was a lively place with lots and lots of skill.
Now I hear that teapotmakers are working from home or in smaller studios,
a development that had already started when we were there in 1996.

'gentlemen pots' by gentleman potters...
small manufacturers instead of large communist institutions...

Still, the output of Factory No1 was of high quality
The pots were immaculate and went through many inspections.
